Calling Ontario’s Registered Dietitians: Ontario Dietitians is a community built by dietitians, for dietitians – Build it with us from the ground up.
Proper nutrition plays a crucial role in helping you achieve your performance goals and feel your best.
Whether you’re someone who’s looking to improve your fitness routine or a competitive athlete, your nutrition plays an important role in both your performance and how you feel before, during, and after training sessions.
You might be an active individual who constantly feels fatigued after workouts or may need some pointers on foods that could compliment your training efforts.
If you have fitness goals, you need a plan so they can properly fuel themselves for workouts and achieve optimal performance.
Feeling tired during or after exercise can be frustrating when you’re trying to improve your fitness. Our sports nutrition specialists help identify whether this is related to inadequate fueling, poor timing of meals, dehydration, or other nutrition factors. We address common mistakes like under-eating before workouts, not refueling properly afterward, or missing key nutrients that support energy production and recovery.
Protein needs for athletes are higher than sedentary individuals, but the exact amount depends on your training type, intensity, and goals. Our BC Dietitians help you understand evidence-based protein recommendations for your specific sport and activity level. We also address whether protein powders are necessary or if you can meet your needs through whole foods, and provide practical guidance on timing protein intake for optimal muscle building and recovery.
Body composition goals while maintaining performance require a careful balance of nutrition and training. Our sports nutrition specialists help you create sustainable strategies that preserve lean muscle mass while supporting your training demands. We focus on evidence-based approaches that avoid the common pitfalls of extreme restriction that can harm both performance and long-term health, especially important for athletes in high-risk professions like firefighting.
Plant-based athletes can absolutely meet their performance and recovery needs with proper planning. Our dietitians help you ensure adequate protein intake from plant sources, address potential nutrient gaps like B12, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids, and provide practical meal planning strategies that support your training demands. We understand the unique challenges plant-based athletes face and provide evidence-based solutions to optimize your nutrition for peak performance.
