Calling Ontario’s Registered Dietitians: Ontario Dietitians is a community built by dietitians, for dietitians – Build it with us from the ground up.
You've tried every diet under the sun with little change.
You feel great for a while, but then you gain the weight back and feel worse than when you started. Sometimes you even gain more weight. You’re fed up, frustrated, and ready to throw diets out the window forever.
You’re not alone. Research shows that 95% of diets fail long-term, yet millions of Canadians continue the cycle of restriction and regain.
The problem isn’t your willpower.
It’s the approach.
Weight regain after dieting is incredibly common and frustrating, but it’s not a personal failure—it’s biology. Our BC Dietitians explain how restrictive dieting can actually slow your metabolism and increase cravings, making regain almost inevitable. We focus on sustainable lifestyle changes that work with your body’s natural systems rather than against them, helping you break the cycle of losing and regaining the same weight over and over.
Sustainable weight management doesn’t require eliminating all your favorite foods or following rigid meal plans. Our BC Dietitians help you create a balanced approach that includes foods you love while still supporting your goals. We focus on adding nourishing foods, optimizing meal timing, and finding ways to satisfy cravings without derailing your progress. The key is creating a lifestyle you can actually maintain long-term.
With so much conflicting information online, it’s hard to know what’s actually evidence-based. Our dietitians have debunked common weight loss myths and help you distinguish between marketing claims and scientific reality. Whether it’s intermittent fasting, targeted fat loss, or the latest diet trend, we provide clear, research-backed guidance so you can make informed decisions about your health.
Emotional eating is a normal human response, but when it becomes your primary coping mechanism, it can interfere with your health goals. Our BC Dietitians help you understand the difference between physical hunger and emotional triggers, develop alternative coping strategies for stress and difficult emotions, and create a more balanced relationship with food that doesn’t involve guilt or shame.

Private practice dietitians are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health benefit plans and insurance providers will cover a portion or all of the services provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD). Please confirm with your plan provider your maximum yearly and visit allowance.
Registered dietitians are authorized medical practitioners recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency.
If you pay out of pocket for your dietitian services, you can claim these expenses as medical expense for tax credit purposes.
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to book in with a ON Dietitian. While a referral is not needed to start your journey with us, we do appreciate connecting with your healthcare provider to coordinate care and provide a holistic and comprehensive care plan.
Weight management dietitians typically have clinical experience working in hospitals or clinics that help promote healthy weight and lifestyle.
These registered dietitians (RDs) will also take part in continuing education to stay current with the latest research, treatment guidelines, and best practices in weight management nutrition.
